Her research also explores light-tissue interactions and the dynamic optical properties of blood, leading to the development of a therapeutic laser for treating vascular skin disorders. With interdisciplinary appointments at the University of Arizona, Dr. Barton’s work spans biomedical engineering, optical sciences, and electrical engineering. She has published over 90 peer-reviewed papers and is a fellow of both SPIE, the International Optics Society, and the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering.
