Jessica Andrews-Hanna, PhD, investigates internally guided cognitive processes such as self-referential thinking, memory, future thinking, emotion, and mentalizing. Her research delves into mind-wandering, imagination, and creativity, exploring their neural and physiological foundations, including resting-state connectivity. Dr. Andrews-Hanna examines how these internal processes change with aging and dementia, as well as how they become disrupted in mental health disorders like depression and anxiety. With joint appointments in Psychology and Cognitive Science, her interdisciplinary work advances our understanding of the brain's internal landscape and its role in both healthy and disordered states.
