Dr. William Killgore is a Professor of Psychiatry, Psychology, and Medical Imaging and directs the Social, Cognitive, and Affective Neuroscience (SCAN) Lab at the University of Arizona. His research focuses on the brain systems involved in emotion, cognitive performance, and the impact of sleep, nutrition, and lifestyle factors on mental health and behavior, with a particular emphasis on military personnel. Dr. Killgore’s work combines neurocognitive assessments with advanced neuroimaging to explore topics such as moral judgment, decision-making, and risk-taking, while also studying the effects of sleep deprivation and interventions like light exposure, caffeine, and neuromodulation. He has received numerous awards for his research and has published over 200 scientific articles and book chapters.
